Move Over Moriarty 1997 - 1998

Sherlock Holmes investigates The Garibaldi Biscuit Affair.

“I hope that the Arts Council will continue to fund this unique, award winning company, as Moriarty is frenetic, farcical and very funny.”
Julia Taylor

“With the success of Benedict Cumberbatch’s version of the detective and Robert Downey Jnr packing cinemas with his interpretation, expect spoofs a plenty when the duo bring their madcap version to the Grange”

SYNOPSIS:

As impenetrable as a London pea souper. Down at The Strand Theatre, fear stalks the backstage corridors as night after night, artistes are murdered by an invisible malevolent hand. Gothic Horror combines with Victorian Music Hall as this extraordinary mystery unravels. Meet The Musical Motherless Twins and male impersonator Vesta Curry; thrill to the exploits of Death Defying Dan and his Whelk infested Tank of Terror. Can Holmes and Watson solve this fiendish crime?

This is our favourite show. It has so much slapstick, funny props and visual gags, it was always a joy to perform. We toured this show to Pakistan with the British Council. We were told that under no circumstances were we to shake hands with men because of cultural conditions. However, people were so convinced by our portrayal of Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson they completely forgot we were women and after the show would shake our hands heartily. The set, designed by Kate Owen, a rotating triangle which also opened out to create Baker Street was a triumph and ranks as our favourite touring set.
